Why is root canal retreatment required?

Although more endodontic surgery might seem unpleasant, root canal retreatment is relatively straightforward. Generally, we can complete the entire treatment in 1-3 visits.

Several factors can unexpectedly cause root canal therapy to fail, including:

  • Cracked crown leaking filling material.
  • Curved or narrow canals not treated during the original procedure.
  • Delay in the placement of restorative devices following the procedure
  • New decay to the tooth.
  • New fracture in the treated tooth.
  • Saliva entering the restorative structure.
  • Undetected complex canal structures.

Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment repairs and saves a tooth that is badly decayed or infected. This procedure involves removing the nerve and pulp from the tooth. After this, we fill the space with a medicated filling to complete the treatment.

Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal treatment performed to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or becomes infected. The root canal treatment consists of removing the nerve and pulp of the tooth and then filled with a medicated filling.

Internal Bleaching

Internal bleaching is a treatment designed to bleach a tooth that has undergone root canal treatment. This process will ultimately help restore the tooth to its normal color.

Before Endodontic Treatment:

  • We perform root canal treatment, also known as endodontic treatment, under local anesthesia. After the procedure, you can resume activities like driving, sports, or work without restrictions. However, make sure to eat a full meal before the treatment.

Root Canal Retreatment:

  • In rare cases, root canal therapy may not work as expected. The treated tooth might not heal properly, or the patient might experience post-surgical complications that threaten the tooth. In these situations, we perform re-root canal treatment to address the issues and help the tooth heal.

He is also skilled in microscopic endodontics and is a key opinion leader for several leading rotary endodontic systems, with multiple research publications to his credit. Known for his precision and patient-focused care, Dr. Sreejith is passionate about saving natural teeth and staying at the forefront of modern dentistry through continuous learning. Outside the clinic, he enjoys family time, fitness, and exploring global cuisines in the UAE.
